What does the price on ssancar.com include?
The listed price is FOB (Free On Board) Korean port: it includes the car, Korean export de-registration, inland transport to the port, export customs declaration, SSANCAR's commission and the pre-purchase inspection report. It excludes ocean freight, marine insurance, destination port charges, import duty, VAT and registration. SSANCAR books and pre-pays the freight on your behalf and invoices it separately at cost.
How much does a used Hyundai Tucson or Kia Sportage cost from Korea?
In late 2026 a 2019-2024 Hyundai Tucson costs about USD 13,500-23,000 FOB Korea and a Kia Sportage USD 12,500-21,500, depending on year, trim and mileage. A 2020-2024 Kia Sorento is USD 19,500-28,000, a Hyundai Sonata DN8 USD 13,000-19,500, a Kia Morning (Picanto) USD 5,500-9,500. Korean auction cars are typically 5-10% below dealer-lot prices. How do I calculate the total landed cost of a Korean used car in Germany?
Landed cost in Germany = CIF value + 10% customs duty + 19% import VAT + individual approval + registration. Example for a car at USD 15,000 FOB: add about USD 1,500 RoRo freight and USD 90 insurance for a CIF of USD 16,590; duty 10% = USD 1,659; VAT 19% on (CIF + duty) = USD 3,467; TÜV/DEKRA §21 StVZO individual approval about EUR 330-580 plus EUR 50-150 for exemptions; registration and plates about EUR 100. Total roughly USD 22,500 before any lighting modifications.
How much does it cost to import a Korean used car into Poland?
Poland charges 10% customs duty on the CIF value, excise (akcyza) of 3.1% for engines up to 2.0 litres or 18.6% above 2.0 litres (1.55% for hybrids up to 2.0 litres, 0% for BEVs and PHEVs up to 2.0 litres until 2029), and 23% VAT on the total. A USD 15,000 FOB car arriving at Gdansk with USD 1,800 freight therefore costs roughly USD 22,900 after taxes for a 2.0-litre petrol, or USD 26,400 for a 2.5-litre, before technical inspection (badanie techniczne, about PLN 250-1,000) and sworn translations.
How much does it cost to import a used car from Korea to Albania or Kosovo?
Albania charges 0% customs duty, an engine-size-based excise and 20% VAT on the customs value, while Kosovo charges 10% duty, excise and 18% VAT; both require the car to be under 10 years old and at least Euro 4. RoRo freight from Korea to Durres is about USD 2,040 for a sedan, USD 2,140 for an SUV and USD 2,070 for a van; a 40ft container is about USD 3,900 for 3-4 cars plus USD 80 per car lashing. Customs clearance at Durres takes 3-5 days.
Is the EU customs value the FOB price or the CIF price?
The EU customs value is the CIF value: the price paid for the car plus ocean freight and insurance up to the EU border port. Duty (10%) is calculated on CIF, and import VAT is calculated on CIF plus duty plus any excise. Customs can challenge a value that looks too low, so keep the SSANCAR invoice, proof of payment and freight invoice together.
Are there hidden fees when buying a used car from Korea?
There should be none if you buy FOB from a transparent exporter. Beyond the FOB price expect: ocean freight (USD 750-2,000 RoRo per car, USD 3,900 per 40ft container), marine insurance (0.45-0.85% of CIF), destination terminal handling (EUR 100-250 per car), customs broker (EUR 150-400), duty and VAT, and homologation. SSANCAR does not charge a separate 'document fee'; some exporters add USD 100-250 for this.
Why do Korean exporters quote FOB instead of CIF or delivered prices?
Korean exporters quote FOB because freight rates change monthly and depend on your port, vessel type and how many cars share a container, while destination charges, duty and VAT are set by your own country. Quoting FOB lets a dealer compare cars from different exporters on the same basis. SSANCAR will quote CFR (cost and freight) to any European port on request once the destination and number of cars are known.
